The Book Meme

I've seen this meme bouncing around everywhere. So, when mistipurple asked for somebody to pick up the baton I had to answer the call.

You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
Which book do I feel is of such incredible significance that I would memorize it and save it from the fires, social significance that is? Lets say "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Well, yeah, but it's so hard to keep the images from movies out of my head.

I've always been more likely to want to be a fictional character, to experience what they are going through, good and bad.

The last book you bought is:
The last group of books I bought are from a spontaneous look at the bookshelf while I dropped some things off at Goodwill. Much better finds then usual, for under ten dollars I bought these 4 books:
"Living History" by Hillary Rodham Clinton, which I have not read yet.
"It's Not About the Bike" by Lance Armstrong, which I also have not read yet, but will soon.
"Life Strategies" by Dr. Phil McGraw, I glance through it, but doubt I'll actually read.
"A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers, which I am currently reading.

The last book you read:
I recently finished up "Guards!Guards!" by Terry Pratchett, one of my favorite author's. I love ludicrous satire.

What are you currently reading?
I'm just finishing up "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers.
I just picked up "Running with Sissors" by Augusten Burroughs.
And I've been thumbing back and forth thru "French Women Don't get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano

Five books you would take to a deserted island:
1. I can't remember the name of the title, and I don't even know if it's a real book, but the book mentioned in "White Oleander" about survival, it addressed both the mental and physical aspects of survival, and assumably escape.
2. I big fat stetchpad/journal, because I just think much more clearly once I've gotten it down on paper.
3. A GRE analytical review book, with lots of problems. Not the essays, the old style puzzles, because these are the best mind puzzlers I've ever had the pleasure of stumbling across and no doubt they would keep me occupied for quite a while.
4. For something spritual the "Tao te Ching" I could read that for a life time and be inspired everytime.
5. I was going to say the LOTR, because they're long, but they're to depressing. I need something clever. "The Hotel New Hampshire" by John Irving, it's long, it's clever and I think it would be a good companion.

Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why:
tapestrygirl, because she is my dear friend and think she will have some pretty interesting responses.

Kristina, because she has an interesting perspective and I'd like to see her responses.

Since this meme really has gone around the block already, I'll have my third person be, as mistipurple worded it, "who ever out there who might want to carry on this relay"
