34

Monday was my 34th birthday. It was a very subdued birthday for me this year. I think that was partly due to sleep depravation. I went out with my coworkers after work Sunday night and didn’t get home until almost three. I was unable to sleep in and so I just muddled through the day.

The only thing I really wanted for my birthday this year was to go out to a nice restaurant with just my husband and have a nice relaxed, guilt free dinner, This is not something that is usually in our budget, so it was a special treat. I have to say he came on through for me. We went to Mirabelle, which offers a wonderful wine list and top-notch food in reasonable portions. We also had excellent service, and their atmosphere was very comfortable and cozy.

I received phone calls from distant friends and family, as well as, some cards and packages that made me feel very loved. However, my best birthday present was a brief telephone interview and the setup of a true interview on Thursday. This is all due to the contact I made. He hasn’t even seen a resume from me yet. I figure even if the job doesn’t turn out to be the right thing for me (although I think it will) it’s given me some deadlines and focus to get things organized.

I need to finish my resume. Plus I’ll feel better if I learn more about what this job usually entails and about the company they are affiliated with. I also need to do another mall run for myself this time. Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day.

Thank you all so much!

Appetizer: duck spring rolls.

Me: butternut squash soup, lamb with some sort of red wine sauce and the best kale ever

Hubby: Mixed greens salad, beef tenderloin with porcini mushrooms and green beans

Desert: he had chocolate mouse and I had lemon tart.

I also had a glass of Mettler Petite Sirah, which was wonderful. I'm feeling very spoiled.

Happy birthday, Lora! We've just started an monthly splurge group, where we visit nicer restaurants and eat and eat and eat. I'll have to put Mirabelle on our list. So far we've only tried Starlite cafe, and it was stellar. :) I need to post about that.

How exciting about your interview! Good luck, and I hope it's all you're dreaming of.

Happy Birthday Lora!!!
Sorry I am a bit late. Duck spring rolls sounds absolutely wonderful - I've never tried them. (I too have budget constraints). I am glad you had a good night out at a nice place.
