Daddy's little girl

John, or Jackie as our Irish family
insists upon calling him.

I am and will forever remain Daddy's little girl. I was born on Father's Day, nine months to the day after my father's 22nd birthday. My parents were newly married and I've been told all my life that he actually did wish for a baby on his birthday candle that year.

In honor of Father's Day I would really like to write a loving testimony to honor my father. I really would. However, I'm just not up to it. You see my father died quite unexpectedly at the ripe old age of 42 in 1991. I really resent that. That's about all I can write about it right now. I think I'm still in the anger stage.

This is his high school senior photo, back when he still had hair. I always thought it made him look like a movie star.

Love you and miss you Daddy.

I'm so sorry, Lora. Really. You did do a moving tribute to your dad just now...it just doesn't have a happy ending. Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you all.

I'm just thankful that we had the time and the relationship that we did have. Others, I know, were not as lucky.

So sorry to hear that, I know it's difficult to lose a parent at an age but when they're young and it's unexpected, it must be so much worse. What a lovely photo!

He loves and misses you, too. I'm sorry you had to lose him at such a young age. I can't imagine the pain and anger you're feeling. :-( My husband lost both his parents unexpectedly, and it has been hard watching him try to come to terms with it. Take care.

my heart goes out to you and I can only imagine how painful it has been for you all these years... what a special thing, to have been wished for...! to have been born on father's day....! the ultimate gift.

thank you so much for sharing.

I think I'd be pretty angry too, feeling cheated of all of those years together. Thanks for sharing his picture with us--he definitely had the movie star look!
