Heartbeat

We got to see our baby’s heartbeat!

Yesterday, we had our first prenatal check up. It was a long one. Hubby and I got to go through out whole medical history and explain what happened with our first pregnancy twice, once for the nurse and once for the doctor. They told us about tests they could do and what to expect medically. The poked and prodded and withdrew bodily fluids. I must comment their phlebotomist is fantastic, she changed the tube without me even noticing. I feel like we are in better hands with this new doctor then with the last one and Hubby seemed to feel comfortable with her too.

Then the very best thing happened. They did an ultrasound and we got to see our baby! His/her heart was just pumpinging away. The doctor said at about 160 beats per minute. We’ll have to call him/her Speedy for now. Plus, when I laughed, little Speedy flexed his/her back. I’m in awe. I'm so excited and so relieved.

The doctor said that so far everything looks healthy and normal and the placental is attached in the right place. Plus it was verified that we just have a single embryo, not that twins run in the family, but you never know. I have no clue how they do these things, but the ultrasound dated my pregnancy at 8 weeks and 2 days, plus or minus 3 days. That puts my due date at May 1st. If things go on plan, it looks like I'll be having a little Taurus.

Read what's developing this week.

That is so cool! You'll never forget it either :))

I've been fortunate enough to be with my daughter both times when she first heard hear babies hearts beating. One still in the womb as I speak :)

Glad to know mother and baby are progressing nicely here!

Pretty neat; they didn't have those back then, not as a matter of routine anyway.

I'm late saying this - but wow! And when he/she is older you can show this to him/her. That will be something.
