Madness!

I just came back from the grocery store. Can you say Hurricane Madness?

Austin is about 200 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and right now it looks like Hurricane Rita is headed straight for us. She’s not expected to make landfall until Saturday and even at their worst prediction she’ll have lost most of her spunk by the time she reaches Austin. You’d think we were expecting things to be far worse judging by the lines at the gas station and at the grocery store. It’s amazing to see the difference in people’s reaction to this hurricane after seeing the damage done by Katrina.

So, between the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which will still be happening, and evacuees from the Houston area the population of Austin is going to quadruple this weekend, amidst thunderstorms and flying lawn furniture.

I think we’ll be skipping our trip to Corpus Christi this weekend.

Will be thinking of you guys as this weather pattern moves through - along with the extra human population.

It's quite the thing, but I think you'll be fine. Good luck.

Sounds like an exciting weekend ahead... I do hope the storm has lost all potential for causing havoc by the time it reaches you.

I used to live near Houston for a while. My son's paternal granparents are on the coast and have evacuated. I've been to Galveston many times...and am keeping my fingers crossed!!
