Ho Hum

I have to say that I haven’t actually caught the holiday bug this year. I, who normally bakes at least 20 batches of cookies throughout the month of December, have not even baked a single batch of cookies yet this year. Not one.

It just hasn’t felt that much like Christmas. Since this is (hopefully) my last holiday where I don’t have a little one to play Santa for, I figured I’d not worry about it that much. I did get most of my cards out in a timely manner. I love giving and receiving Christmas cards, so I’m glad of that. Thanks to my husband we did get a tree up and get things decorated around the house. As for shopping, what little bit I’ve done has been done online and with a few spontaneous purchases while I was out doing other things. I still have more shopping to do, but at this rate I’m not going to finish things off until next week.

As I’m starting to get prepared for have my in-laws over for Christmas dinner, I’m starting to get a little more enthusiastic about things. Instead of skipping it altogether, I’m thinking I may actually do my Christmas baking next week instead. Now wouldn’t that be different?

I'm not really into it either. I think part of the reason is that I have so many people to shop for: my mom, my sister, my husband, my brother, my brother's wife, my brother's 2 kids, my other sister, her husband, and her 3 kids. It's a lot of shopping, and I always get stressed about it. Also, people are so rushed and rude around the holidays (probably because they are also stressed). I always enjoy the actual day, however.

Glad to see you back. Thanks for stopping by. I'm not gungho about baking this year. Some years I made sweets enough for 4 house-loads. This year, bleh. I'll buy a turkey or chicken today tho.
