It's all about attitude

Well, tonight I think I need to do a little bit of that Gratitude Journaling Stuff.

I've just read a bit of the incredibly funny and popular I hate my flat mate blog. And being the serious turd that I am, I can't help but wonder if the person writing this blog had just taken a more constructive attitude it they could have gotten along famously. I think that it you have a knee jerk reaction to every little thing that 's out of place then the only thing you are doing is upset yourself and feed a downward spiral. If you look for things to appreciate it keeps you happier and more relaxed, and that can only lead to good things.

Okay, 3 things I am grateful for today and why they happened:

  1. My general manager found somebody else to work Sunday evening after I directly told then that I could not work. I do not work Sundays and they scheduled me a double shift without talking to me first, this is a routine occurance in the restaurant industry. In the past I would have just worked it and then would have been pissed and resentful and felt guilt for skipping out on the plans I had made with my in-laws.
  2. My best friend from highschool called me today and we actually got to talk for a whole half hour. Normally, when we speak her young children are home and need her attention, but she actually called me during the very rare bit of time she had alone. I really feel complimented by this, because I would probably have used that brief bit of stolen time to just be alone or get something done.
  3. I know it's overused, but I'm grateful for what a beautiful day it was today and that I got outside in it. This evening is also wonderful and I'm enjoying a nice bit of a breeze coming in through the open window.

Once again, I've stayed up later than I should. I may have to start bringing out my timer.

A friend of mine says "The Universe always says 'Yes.'" If you put the negative spin on something, the answer is 'yes.' If you put a posiive spin on the same thing, the answer is 'yes.' Interpretation creates reality and all that.

So what I'm saying, is I agree. :) Thanks for checking out my blog, by the way. Nice to know you're reading.
