Splat!

Originally, this was just going to be a comment to my Sloth post. However, it was getting quite lengthy, so I thought I’d give it a space of it’s own.

I really appreciate all of your cheers. Honestly, your interest took me by surprise. But then, I guess that the quest to be fit is something we can all identify with.

I did make it out to Town Lake again today. This time it took me a minute less (47) for the same route and my average heartrate was 5 beats less (132) per minute despite it being just as muggy. Whenever I can, I exercise with a heartreate monitor. I plan to walk again tomorrow and I should be okay to ease back into running after that.

I really like to be in an exercise routine, however life likes to intrude upon it and once out of my routine it takes a great bit of effort to get me back on track. I use to think that problem with getting into and staying on track was evidence that I really was an overly flexible person, but now I realize a truly flexible person wouldn’t need to have a routine to stay fit. They would just fit it in when they could and not overly worry, plan, and obsess about it. At least I’m not overly rigid and insist upon sticking to a plan even when it no longer makes any sense to do so, or do I?

Just as I was stepping onto the walking path, I got splatted on by a pigeon. First time that has happened to me. Luckily, it was only on my hand, but my first instinct, of course, was to look up.

Above me, was the beginning of a line of pigeons that roost on the underbelly of a highway bridge. I envisioned a follow up falling on my face. Conveniently, there was a water spray near by that I washed my hand off in. I’ve never been as wary of birds as I was for the rest of my trek today.

That is enough to make anyone superstitious! Happy Friday 13--Michele sent me. I am a fan of The Hudson River School of art. Et toi??

Here straight from Michele's. Good for you for getting into the exercise. I was caught once by a pigeon - they do say it's good luck and that week I passsed an exam, got a new job and didn't need work doing at the dentist. The shirt was ruined though, I never got the stain out. Here's hoping it brings you good luck - not that I'm swayed by superstitions at all.

I can still remember the one time I was caught by a bird in that way - I was about six and had a new white jacket with furry bits around the hood. I went out in it for the first time, and splat! I never much liked the jacket after that. Well done for exercising. I too tend to think I'd do better with routines, but they never work out. The only exercise I get other than walking is running in and out of the house with laundry, watering, stuff for the compost heap, and so on. There are six steps up to our back door and I must go up and down them dozens of times each day. Somehow I can't get interested in exercise for its own sake.

I hate birds, and those aerial bombs are one of the main reasons why. The worst I've ever seen was on the ferry between Ocracoke and Hatteras-it's a really short run, and the seagulls are EVERYWHERE.

Hey!

I did THREE 12 hour shifts in the NICU this week. I'm just now recovering. (I have 3 more 12 hour shifts next week, then I'm done with my clinicals and will be done with Nursing school - in about 3 weeks!)

Hey, by the way, I added you to my side-bar... I was looking for a good icon to represent your blog - went with black currants, but thought about a tomato (I'm amazed by your plants)... my thumb is a wanna-be green thumb, but often times it's actually quite brown... Plants don't last long around me. Plus in Portland, OR - where I live, we don't get a lot of sun...

I love your new additions of photos - yep, that's exactly what I do...search for photos that correlate to my posts. *grin*

Once this next week is over, hopefully I'll be more able to get online!

Take care!!!!!

Good Luck, I like that idea of reframing it. It sounds like I was extremely luck that it landed on my easily washable skin and not my clothes or hair.
