Home

You know that deep sigh of relief you heave when everything just feels right? Well, I had one of those experiences tonight. I think I have found my home at my new job.

After one full week of paperwork and classes, we now have one full week of on the job training. The kids are split up into different groups based upon their age, sex, and problems. So far I’ve worked with half of them and tonight it just totally clicked. Not that I disliked the other staff I worked with on other nights, but I really like the staff I worked with tonight. I really like their approach with the kids. What’s funny is this was the one group I was really apprehensive about working with.

As the new person, I need to be flexible about which groups I’ll work with, but we do have lots of opportunities to state our preferences and this group is moving straight up to the top of my list.

So yes, I’m working evenings again, at least for this week, but it's so much more worthwhile then waitressing was and a much better match with my abilities. Could somebody please explain to me again why it took me so long to look for a job outside of the restaurant business?

Because change makes the best of us unduly shy?

Glad to hear there's some good clicking happening.

That's really terrific. I'm a lot older than you and I'm not sure that I've ever found that click anywhere job-wise. Enjoy it.

It sounds great, I hope it gets better and better! I don't think I ever found that kind of clicking with a paid job. But then I didn't work for many years. I think it would have had to be something with children and learning difficulties to have that kind of feeling of rightness.

Oh, and as for why you didn't get around to it sooner... welcome to Procratinators Anonymous!!

Um, that should have been Procrastinators, of course. Why do I always see typos after I've hit the 'publish' button?!
