Jobs

My husband started a new job yesterday. He fixes appliances in a town where appliance repairmen are in short supply. Last month be was recruited by a different company and at this point in time we are seeing nothing but advantages. He’s earning a little more money, working a much more reasonable number of hours, he genuinely likes the small group of people that he’s working with and they seem to really treat their employees well (a novel concept these days). Plus the work is more challenging, so it keeps his skill set up and, after all, when you’re in the trades that’s what it’s all about.

I’ve been contemplating what to do with my job. Unfortunately, I cannot continue doing what I’m doing for much longer due to the physical nature of my job. That’s why I was hoping for a new position when it came up a few months ago. As I’m really starting to show and am getting a little more slower moving it’s really going to become more of an issue. My employer is been pretty accommodating, but it’s not like they can just create a new position for me. I have no intentions of looking for a new line of work at this point in time, but I am hoping that I’ll be able to keep working until I have the baby. Many of the adolescents I work with are violent so circumstances vary upon how safe an environment we have at any one time. If the stars align themselves in my favor, I’ll be all set, but honestly there’s no way to predict things more then a few days ahead. I guess that this is just one more way of preparing me for the little unpredictable bundle that we are soon to receive.

Ugh. So what if they said, what would your ideal position be if we could wave the magic wand? and poof, grant it created just for you???? (can you tell i dream a lot?) xo

Life can certainly be like that, Lora. Uncertain. I hope you're able to work as long as possible since that's certainly an advantage moneywise as well as going back to the job. You seem to like this one vastly more than the waiting tables gig.

Congratulations to your husband on his change in location. It sounds like this job will be better for him and a bit more money is great when a baby is about to enter your lives.
