I worked early in the day on Thanksgiving this year, which left me to make the goodies that could be made ahead of time. What a shame, my favorite part.
I think I will add 'Visit American friends at Thanksgiving' to my list of things to do before I die. It seems like such a wonderful holiday!
I discovered a recipe for sweet potato pie with marshmallows a while back - Mmmmmmmm. My partner looked at me like I'd just grown a second head when I said, 'I'm going to make something with sweet potatoes for dessert'. But he seemed much less skeptical when he was eating it :)
Those look beautiful. What are they and any chance of a recipe?
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's about all the good things in life and hasn't gotten dragged down by commerialism, yet.
They are pumpkin pie and a pecan tart (pecans are a real Texas thing). I'll try to locate these exact recipes on-line, but they are fairly classic so if not I'll share something close. I got them straight out of Fine Cooking Magazine and I loved the idea of dressing things up with leaves.
Sweet Potato Pie is also wonderful, but I've never made it
While I'm loving life in the Austin area, I mainly grew up in the Hudson Valley of New York. I’m a 38 year old INFP married to a very handy INTJ. We have a three year old that keeps life interesting and full of meaning, a little girl in the womb and a 9 year old puppy. I tend to take a Zen approach to life and, at least mentally, I’m always going off on one tangent or another. This really is just a hodge-podge of whatever’s on my mind at the moment with little rhyme or reason.
