82

I would just like to share with everybody that my cashier at the grocery store tonight was 82 years old. 82. Plus his line was going faster then any of the others and he did it all with a joke and a smile. Amazing.

Awww...that's great! And it makes me so happy that he had a great attitutde. Now my only question would be is he working because he HAS to or because he wants to? If he HAS to work that would make me sad. He should be able to sit back and enjoy life for once because more than likely he's been a hard worker his entire life. Good for him. :)

I spoke with the supervisor on my way out the door because I was in disbelief and she said that he works three four hour shifts a week. She said that his wife is real sick and that she thinks that the job is a social outlet for him. I don't know about the money aspect of things, but he did seem to take pleasure in what he was doing. I use to work with seniors and admit that I'm easily charmed by men in their 80's.

Well, I guess that's a good thing, Lora--but I don't want to be working when I'm 82! Hell, nobody in my family has ever lived to be 70 so just breathing at 82 would be a miracle.

That is so sweet! My husband's maternal grandmother is 84 and she still goes on a 3 mile walk per day, cooks for her church group, and cleans every inch of her house. She puts me to shame at 35.
