Catch-up

Sorry for my extended silence this weekend. After a few days off, we went into busy mode at work. Plus, I always try to spend a little extra time with the hubby on his days off.

Hubby is busy rebuilding the plane he crashed last weekend. It’s looking really good and should be in the air again by next weekend. He's doing a completely different color scheme this time.

I’m doing well. I’m feeling pregnant. Over the past couple weeks I’ve started to have problems with feeling queasy. I’m really lucky to say that that is all it’s been so far. I finally took action a few days ago and stocked up on all the essential ginger products and crackers. I'm trying to worry less about eating perfectly, which I was really fussing over, but really can't do anymore. I really making an effort to never let my stomach get empty or too full; this seems to prevent the nausea from starting to act up. I’ve also been better this week about getting the sleep I need; this seems to make me less vulnerable to morning sickness. In all honesty, I don’t know how pregnant women with young children do it. The demands on me fairly low and I find that finding the time to do what I need to do to stay feeling good a challenge.

My leg is feeling much better now. Not like brand new, but it’s making progress. I injured it running at work and, as of today, as long as I don’t try running it feels almost normal.

Exciting news of the week is hubby and I finally decided to investigate buying a house. The other day, we went and got pre-approved for a mortgage at a pretty good rate. Tomorrow, we are going to start speaking to real estate agents. As you can imagine, we are both really excited. The time seems right to buy and despite our modest budget, there appear to be lots of nice small homes in our price range.

It's about time, Lora. You and your husband are certainly settled enough to belong in a house. I hope you enjoy the process--I love shopping for a house. You can do a lot of sorting yourself by using something like realtor.com

Good luck with the house, the plane, the leg, and most of all your baby.

Congratulations on buying a house! (or initiating the process). Are you looking in the Austin area?

It's good to hear all the pregnancy news. I'm glad you are finding ways to deal with the morning sickness.

Ooh, a house, what fun! I am glad to hear you got the ginger products. Keeping your belly just right works really well, too.

YAY YOU!!! I remember that morning sickness and nausea, actually, I threw up A LOT. I also remember having a very fine line between slightly hungry and downright ravenous, meaning, if I didn't eat within 3 seconds, I felt like I was going to keel over. Got into carrying NutriGrains and granola bars with me everywhere. It helped! Miss you!
